Google Unveils Pixel 9 'Google AI' Features: Pixel Screenshots, Add Me, Studio Revealed Before the Launch
Google is preparing to launch its upcoming flagship smartphone in the Pixel 9 series in next month. According to a report by Android Authority, Google will introduce new machine learning (ML) features branded as “Google AI” under the tagline “Discover Google AI at its best.” These features will include tools similar to Microsoft’s Recall.

Google AI will showcase a mix of new and existing tools. For instance, Circle to Search, already available on Pixel and select non-Pixel devices, and Gemini (AI assistant), accessible on all Android phones.
New Features -
- Add Me - This feature ensures everyone is included in group photos, resembling an enhanced version of Best Take from the Pixel 8 series, capable of altering expressions and merging different shots. Add Me suggests Google aims to use AI to capture meaningful moments in photos.
- Studio - Likely integrating with the Pixel's screenshot editor app, Studio may function similarly to the Creative Assistant app, creating stickers and potentially serving as a generative AI image generator, akin to Apple's Image Playground.
Google has been advancing its image and video-generating models, with ImageFX allowing users to experiment with the Google Imagen 2 model, and VideoFX (currently in closed beta) extending this capability to videos.
- Pixel Screenshots - This feature, akin to Microsoft's Recall, enhances screenshots you capture by adding metadata like app names and web links. A local AI, likely the multimodal Gemini Nano, processes this data, allowing users to search for specific screenshots by content or query a bot about them.
Launch Date -
The Pixel 9 series launch event is scheduled for August 13th, with expectations for at least three variants. It remains unclear whether the top Google AI features will be exclusive to the flagship model.
