Google confirms Pixel 5a 5G will be launching later this year only in the US and Japan
Google is preparing to launch its latest smartphone the Pixel 5a in the Google I/O event in May, which is surfaced in CAD-based renders back in February. Now, the company has confirmed that the phone has been canceled due to chip shortage, so it released an official statement that confirmed the Pixel 5a 5G will be launch later this year only in the US and Japan.
Google Statement said that "Pixel 5a 5G is not canceled. It will be available later this year in the U.S. and Japan and announced in line with when last year’s a-series phone was introduced."
This year the Pixel 5a 5G will not launch in other countries in which it was originally intended to issue. The Pixel 4a 5G was launched in several markets including the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia. But it is not clear if the company will launch the Pixel 5a 4G model as the successor of Pixel 4a which was a big hit in markets like India mainly due to the competitive pricing.
The company has confirmed that the Pixel 5a 5G will be announced in line with when last year’s a-series phone was introduced, it might be announced at the Google I/O event next month. It is not clear if the phone will arrive in June, as per the rumors, or in October when the Pixel 4a 5G was launched.
Google recently confirmed in an interview that later this year will further increase the Pixel inventory in India when it launches the next Pixel, so there might be a chance for the 4G model could be announced in India.
