Facebook Messenger is getting ads soon
Come Q2 2016, Facebook Messenger will run adverts.
According to a leaked document obtained by TechCrunch, the social networking giant plans to bring advertisements to its Messenger app. The ads will only be shown in message threads with Businesses. Moreover the companies/businesses that you are engaged with will also be able to serve ads about their products/services to you.
The report also claims that businesses will be able to share product details with prospective customers and push advertisements upon launch of a product. Whether its to everyone or just who have expressed interest in the product is not yet clear.
Facebook will also allow enterprises to crease their own custom URLs to initiate chat to leverage Messenger for their support/service infrastructure. But at present this is all conjecture based on a leaked document, we'll know more in the coming months.
