Charge your phone with a plant?
A start up from Barcelona has managed to
achieve what others never imagined of, power your electronic device from a
plant. Bioo is a company that aims to start a revolution with its amazing idea
of charging your mobile or any electronic device through a plant.
The company is currently collecting funds
for this project on Indiegogo and they passed the required amount very quickly
and are now 391% over the required goal.
Bioo is achieving this breakthrough
technology through a custom made flower wasp in which they are using “patented” engineering which uses the plants' photosynthesis to trigger organisms to produce electricity. The video below does a pretty good job of explaining how the technology works, even if you don't have a degree in bio-chemistry.
Essentially Bioo Lite builds a hybrid chemical and biological cell which uses anaerobic microorganisms which are triggered to produce electricity by decomposing substances plants release after photosynthesis. This is a completely eco-friendly option to charge your device and in turn is automatically regenerated without need of an external source or refill.
The pot that is currently being sold can
produce current of up to 5.0v, 1.0A.
If you are interested in helping the people
at Bioo and also want to buy a pot for yourself then the cheapest way at the
time of writing this article is EURO 99 (Approx. 7500) + Shipping.
It looks like a very interesting technology
but we have to see if the company can deliver.
