The Apple Watch is here, but its as useless as any Android Wear smartwatch

    Apple Watch

Wearables are at a nascent stage. Although the Apple Watch was supposedly going to save us all and give the ultimate companion device which we always have on our-self, ditching that horrid thing we call our phone.

But the Apple Watch didn't save us. It suffers the same pitfalls as any Android Wear smartwatch. Why would you want Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and the likes on your wrist, on a tiny-tiny screen, when you have a powerful smartphone with a larger display in your pocket which is meant for those apps. Why would I want to buy a device so that I can see notifications from apps on it, upon seeing which I would have to take out my phone to reply or respond (in a respectable manner) anyway?

The Apple Watch will supposedly give you about 18 hours of battery-life on a typical day. Well the Moto 360 goes for 2 days on a "typical day" and the Pebble lasts a week. Not Impressed!

So what does the Apple watch have to offer, well there are some sensors in that petite body. Its a fitness, activity manager. It tells you get off your butt when you have been sitting too long, measures your heartbeat and charts it out. It will even suggest your activity goals based on the data it collects over a week.

What are those sensors that are doing the work, you have an accelerometer, a heart-rate sensor, WiFi and GPS helping tabulate that data. But for more details there's the companion to activity app for which you would have go to that large thing you are carrying in your pockets.

    So the question remains, WHY?
