Apple and Samsung decide on a truce outside the US
Samsung and Apple have decided to bury the hatchet over all patent disputes, but only outside the US. Both companies issued a joint statement saying that they will drop ongoing patent lawsuits outside the US. Samsung and Apple have sued each other in eight countries other than the US including Australia, Japan, South Korea, the UK, Netherlands, France, Italy and Germany. All pending cases in the above countries have now been dropped without any further negotiations or cross-licensing.
It seems that the nasty fight between Samsung and Apple is finally reaching a conclusion. Apple accused Samsung in the US back in 2011 for allegedly copying the UI elements and design of the iPhone. Since then both companies have been at each others' throats counter-suing every judgement. This is by far the most significant agreement we have seen both the companies enter.
