Apple is gearing up to unveil a range of exciting new products during its upcoming event, nicknamed 'Scary Fast,' scheduled for October 30th. Additionally, there will be notable updates to the top-tier MacBook Pros, as well as the first iMac update since spring 2021.

As per insights from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the company plans to introduce a trio of new Mac chips—namely, the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max—accompanied by a shift towards more sophisticated 3-nanometer production technology.

The M3 chip series vows to bring significant advancements compared to its predecessor, the M2. It offers notably swifter processing speeds and improved efficiency, thus extending the battery life of notebooks.

Apple's earlier release of the MacBook Pro models with M2 chips took place in January, making the launch of the new M3 versions less than ten months later, owing to a prior delay in the release schedule.

The simultaneous announcement of three fresh chips is an impressive feat, particularly when considering their foundation on the cutting-edge 3-nanometer technology. Mark Gurman pointed out the challenges faced by other manufacturers in procuring chips manufactured using this advanced technique.

Mark Gurman provides insights into the three latest components -

    M3 Chip -

    • Comprises eight cores, with four dedicated to high-performance tasks and the remaining four allocated to background functions.
    • Offers improved memory configurations and faster core performance in comparison to the M2.

    M3 Pro -

    • Undergoes testing in various configurations, including models with 12 CPU cores and 18 graphics cores.
    • Anticipates the higher-end versions to feature 14 CPU cores and 20 graphics cores.

    M3 Max -

    • Undergoes testing with 16 CPU cores and an impressive 40 graphics cores.
    • Anticipates a less potent version featuring 32 graphics cores.

    iMac Receives an Upgrade -

The iMac has relied on the M1 chip, and this event marks a much-awaited update, positioning it more strongly within Apple's product line. This year signifies the 25th anniversary of the iMac.

According to Mark Gurman, the upcoming event won't capture attention in the same manner as an iPhone or Apple Watch launch. Instead, it is expected to concentrate on intricate technical aspects, such as chip speeds and internal innovations, without introducing any significant alterations to the external designs of the computers.

The Apple event will be live-streamed on the company's website, on YouTube, and via the Apple TV app. The event is scheduled to commence at 5 PM PT on October 30th (5:30 AM IST on October 31st).
