Apple Special launch Event on September 9 Globally; Expected iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, Foldable iPhone Ultra, and More
Apple has officially sent out invitations for its upcoming special event, scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The event will be held in person at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino.
The invitation features the tagline “Surprise and shine”, set against a soft blue background with a glowing Apple logo surrounded by subtle chromatic-aberration and lens-flare effects.
The event is expected to see the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, along with Apple's first foldable iPhone, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra. Apple could also introduce the Apple Watch Series 12 with a ceramic case option, two AirPods 5 models, and other products.
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
The iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to feature a smaller Dynamic Island, Apple's new 2nm A20 Pro chip, and upgraded LTPO+ display technology. The iPhone 18 Pro Max, meanwhile, is expected to offer a variable-aperture camera and a larger 5,567mAh battery.
The iPhone 18 Pro series is also expected to introduce a new Dark Cherry color option. The standard iPhone 18 is not expected to be unveiled at this event and could instead launch in spring 2027.
iPhone Ultra Foldable Phone
Apple's first foldable iPhone, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra, is expected to feature a compact, pocket-friendly design along with a durable hinge mechanism. Its larger internal display could support iPad-style app layouts and may also be used as a camera viewfinder.
The foldable is reportedly unlikely to feature a telephoto camera, meaning it may not offer the deeper zoom capabilities available on Apple's higher-end iPhone models. It is also not expected to include Face ID and could instead rely on Touch ID, similar to the approach adopted by several competing foldable smartphones.
The prices of the upcoming iPhone models are also expected to increase due to rising component costs.

Apple's special event will begin at 10:00 AM PT (10:30 PM IST) on September 9, 2026. While the event will be held in person at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, Apple is also expected to stream the presentation online.
