Android 4.4.1 Update Coming Soon, Improves Nexus 5's Camera
From its first day of launch, the Nexus 5, has been plagues with one major issue, that its camera is not up to mark. Dave Burke, Google's Director of Engineering for Android told The Verge that Android 4.4.1 update is coming soon and it will bring lots of improvement for the Nexus 5's camera.
In this new update, the main focus is speed, so the camera app will now load faster, autofocus will be quicker and put simply, taking photos will be faster The shutter speeds have been improved as well. On the software front the camera has been optimized for better night shots by using longer shutter time. Motion blur has also been removed by fixing the autofocus, exposure, and white balance.
The HDR+ mode also gets an improvement with a progress bar, which will tell you how long it will take to capture the photo. Colors and contrast have also been improved in the update. The update also addresses the face unlock bug which required the Nexus 5 to rebooted to run normally. Google says that the Android 4.4.1 update will begin rolling out in the next few days.
