Amazon Prime Video launches in India with a lot of regional content
Amazon Prime Video is now available in India. The service is part of the Amazon Prime subscription which has been available in the country since May.
With Amazon Prime, till now you were getting unlimited one-day and two-day deliveries and discounted same-day option. But now you will be able to use Amazon's streaming video service as well. Prime Subscription in India costs Rs. 499 and is available for free to try for the first month. Subscription costs are expected to rise to Rs. 999 later next year.
Coming back to Amazon Prime Video, in India the company has partnered with various regional film and TV production houses to stream their content. Chief among them are Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Mahesh Bhatt's Vishesh Films. Amazon has also signed deals with T-Series, Arka Mediaworks' SS Rajamouli to get more regional content streamed on the service.
In India, with Prime Video users will have a huge catalog of Hollywood as well as Bollywood movies, TV series in Hindi and other regional languages to stream on their smartphones, PC's or SmartTVs. Just to start with the catalog includes new movies like Kabali, Sultan, Baar Baar Dekho and popular international TV series like Supernatural and Vampire Diaries. There is a lot more content that would be added to the service in the coming months based on what users like watch in India.
