Zopo introduces the $299 ZP998 packing MediaTek's new 'true' octa-core chipset, 1080p display, 2 GB RAM and 14 MP camera
Zopo has been trying to make its name in the smartphone market for quite some time now, now it has finally received some well deserved media attention in the form of the new ZP998 octa-core smartphone. MediaTek recently announced its true octa-core processor which utilizes all eight cores individually, rather than the big.LITLLE combination used by the competition. What makes the Zopo ZP998 more interesting is the $299 price point.
For the price you get the all new 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor with MALI 450 GPU clocked at 700 MHz, 5.5-inch IPS 1080p display at 401 PPI and 2 GB RAM. The display, Zopo insists is quite sensitive and can be used with wet hands, although we are not sure if it has any Gorilla Glass coating or the like. Wait, there's more. You also get a 14 MP primary shooter with a dedicated physical camera button accompanied by a 5 MP front facing camera.
The Zopo ZP998 has 32GB of internal storage which is expandable, 2 GB RAM, USB OTG Support as well as NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. That's a lot considering that the ZP998 costs just a fraction of the current-gen quad-core flagships from Samsung and LG.
