Xiaomi Watch 5 launched with 1.54-inch AMOLED display, Dual-Chip Architecture, HyperOS 3, eSIM support

Xiaomi has expanded its smartwatch portfolio with the launch of the Xiaomi Watch 5 in China, alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The Xiaomi Watch 5 features a 47 mm case and boasts a 1.54-inch AMOLED display with an ultra-slim 2.6 mm bezel, offering up to 1,500 nits of peak brightness for exceptional outdoor visibility. Both the display and the heart-rate sensor window are protected by synthetic sapphire glass.

Operating at a 60Hz refresh rate, the watch delivers smooth system-wide animations enhanced by Gaussian blur effects. Its case is crafted from a single block of 316L stainless steel and refined through a 36-step polishing process, resulting in a high-gloss, seamless finish.

Strap Options -

• 3D-printed titanium strap - Made from TC4 titanium alloy with a lattice grid structure, produced using laser-melted micron-level powder at 1,700 °C and layered across 800 steps. Weighing just 43 g, it is 50% lighter than stainless steel bands and 20% lighter than conventional titanium straps. Designed for wrists measuring 140–210 mm, it is available in Titanium Silver and Titanium Black.
• Fluororubber straps - Offered in Khaki Green and Black.
• Genuine leather straps (eSIM model) - Available in Gold, Brown, and Soft Mist Blue.

The watch adopts a dual-chip architecture, combining the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 (4 nm) for system performance and graphics with the low-power, five-core Hengxuan 2800 chip for health monitoring and energy efficiency. Its 930 mAh battery, incorporating 10% silicon content, delivers up to 6 days of regular use and up to 18 days in power-saving mode.

Health and Fitness -

The Xiaomi Watch 5 supports more than 150 sports modes covering both indoor gym workouts and outdoor activities. Gym training includes over 80 equipment-based courses with 3D animated guidance, tracking repetitions, training volume, and weights, and generating detailed post-workout reports with muscle heat maps.

For outdoor use, the watch offers full-color offline maps for running, trail running, hiking, mountaineering, and cycling. Features include route import, deviation alerts, and one-touch return navigation.

Health monitoring and medical-grade features include -

• ECG support via mobile atrial fibrillation detection software (Class II medical device certification in China)
• 30-second ECG recordings using the lower button, with noise reduction and reports available through the Xiaomi Health app (adult reference only)
• Continuous tracking of heart rate, blood oxygen, stress levels, and sleep, with alerts and relaxation reminders
• AI-powered sleep analysis and guided breathing, developed in collaboration with the World Sleep Society, China Sleep Research Society, Asian Sleep Medicine Society, and Peking University Third Hospital
• One-touch health scans covering eight key indicators, including cardiac health and blood pressure, are supported by ongoing health research initiatives

Connectivity, Apps, and Gesture Control -

The eSIM variant enables full standalone functionality, allowing calls, messaging, app usage, and daily tasks without a paired smartphone. It supports China Mobile dual-terminal services and China Unicom’s independent watch number service. An integrated app store offers more than 70 applications, including WeChat, Alipay, NetEase Cloud Music, Keep, and Baidu Maps.

Gesture recognition is powered by an EMG sensor that detects hand muscle signals. Supported functions include:

• Standalone WeChat and Alipay for messaging, emojis, quick replies, QR payments, and transit codes
• Single-pinch, double-pinch, and fist gestures
• Answering calls, dismissing alarms, and remote camera control

The Xiaomi Watch 5 runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and introduces dynamic watch faces, including gravity-responsive, pressure-activated, and game-style designs. The “Super Island” interface highlights key notifications, including verification codes, deliveries, ride-hailing updates, and weather information. It also supports Super Xiao Ai for voice commands, real-time translation, weather queries, and seamless system control across Xiaomi devices.
