Xiaomi Redmi 4 launching on November 4 with Snapdragon 625, metal body

Xiaomi is all set to launch another budget smartphone, the Redmi 4 in China on November 4th as per the latest teaser from the company. The Redmi 4 is said to pack a 5-inch 1080p IPS display running on the Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor with 2GB/3GB RAM options.

For the new Redmi smartphone, Xiaomi has gone with a different build, similar to the Redmi Note 4 with chamfered edges with a unibody metal construction at 8.9mm in thickness weighing in at 160 grams. There are antenna bands on the back along with a fingerprint sensor. The front is covered in 2.5D glass for protection, which is a major change from the Redmi 3S.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with MIUI 8 on top. It will be a dual-SIM 4G VoLTE smartphone with a hybrid SIM card slot to expand storage. Just like the previous-gen Redmi 3S, the Redmi 4 too will sport a large 4000 mAh battery with fast charging support.

On the camera front, we expect to see a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera both capable of shooting 1080p videos. Now, we know that the Snapdragon 625 SoC is capable of capturing 4K videos, but it remains to be seen if Xiaomi enables it here.

Again, there is no word on pricing as of now, but we will get to know more on November 4th when the phone is launched. Xiaomi is already doing quite well with the Mi Note 2 which was just sold out in 50 seconds in its first flash sale and the Mi MIX is also set to create a record when it goes on sale on November 4th.

Thanks for the tip, Sharun!
