Xiaomi 18 Fold launched with 7.58-inch foldable and 5.38-inch outer 120Hz LTPO OLED screens, XRING O3 SoC, LPDDR6 RAM, 6000mAh battery
Xiaomi has officially launched its latest foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, at its autumn flagship product launch event. The new foldable introduces a distinctive “mid-fold” form factor, along with upgraded displays, a new flagship processor, a large battery, and Leica-tuned cameras.
Display and Form Factor
The Xiaomi 18 Fold adopts a “mid-fold” design with a 5.38-inch outer display and a 7.58-inch inner screen. Both panels feature an aspect ratio close to 1.414:1, based on the proportions of standard paper.
The two displays support a dynamic 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate and offer up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness. The outer screen is optimized for a wider horizontal viewing area and features an on-screen keyboard that is claimed to be 8% wider than those found on conventional 6.9-inch smartphones.
The handset features elliptical corners with large radii, a flat wraparound frame, and a racetrack-shaped camera module. When unfolded, it measures 117.8 × 163.8 × 5.02mm, while its folded thickness is 10.68mm. The phone weighs 219 grams and is available in Nishino Red, Warm Gold-White, and Black.
Durability and Build Materials
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is designed to withstand drops from up to 1.2 meters. Its construction combines a 7-series aluminum alloy frame with Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0.
The folding mechanism uses the company's next-generation Dragon Bone Hinge, paired with a double-layer ultra-thin glass (UTG) structure and organic flexible insulation materials. Xiaomi says the hinge and overall folding structure underwent 492 structural optimizations based on full-angle environmental and simulation testing.
Hardware and AI Performance
The Xiaomi 18 Fold debuts the Xiaomi XRING O3 flagship System-on-Chip, which is claimed to achieve more than 5 million points in benchmark testing. The chipset delivers major improvements across CPU, GPU, and AI processing.
The CPU provides a 60% increase in multi-core performance while reducing power consumption by 25% under medium and light workloads. The GPU delivers an 85% performance improvement while cutting power consumption by 64%.
For AI workloads, the integrated NPU offers up to 200 TOPS of Tensor computing performance and 3.13 TFLOPS of Vector computing power. The device also becomes the first commercial smartphone to use domestically developed LPDDR6 memory, created in collaboration with Changxin Memory.
On the software side, Xiaomi has enhanced the multitasking experience, allowing users to run up to six split-screen windows simultaneously. The system also integrates the “Super Xiao Ai Inspiration Ball” for voice-controlled workflows and other AI-powered functions.
Battery and Camera Configuration
The Xiaomi 18 Fold packs a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery using a dual-layer Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery design. The battery features 20% silicon content and an energy density of 920Wh/L. Charging support includes 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
For photography, the foldable features a Leica co-engineered triple-camera setup covering multiple focal lengths. The system consists of a 200MP primary Leica camera, a 50MP Leica periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP Leica ultra-wide-angle camera.
Special Ceramic Edition
Xiaomi has also announced a limited Ceramic Edition of the 18 Fold. This version uses silicon nitride ceramic, which is designed to reduce weight while providing greater surface hardness.
The Ceramic Edition is offered exclusively with 16GB LPDDR6 RAM and 1TB of storage, with production limited to just 1,500 units.
