Vivo X500 series to be launched on September 21 with Major Camera Upgrades

vivo has officially announced that its upcoming X500 series smartphones will launch on September 21. The company revealed the launch date during the vivo Creator Festival.

Teaser silhouettes showcased at the event suggest that the new lineup will continue with the large circular rear camera module seen on previous X-series models. However, the X500 series is expected to bring major hardware and processing upgrades, with a strong emphasis on professional-grade photography and videography.

Imaging Upgrades and Video Capabilities

Based on technical information revealed during the event and earlier industry reports, the X500 series will introduce several significant advancements in smartphone imaging. The lineup is expected to be the first to feature the new Blueprint 900 image sensor and will bring CIPA 7.0-standard optical image stabilization to both the primary and periscope telephoto cameras.

The camera system will also benefit from an enhanced AI photography assistant designed to improve scene recognition, image processing, and overall photo quality.

For video recording, the X500 series is targeting professional and cinema-oriented capabilities, including:

  • Dynamic Range: Up to 17EV of dynamic range.
  • Color Standards: Support for 10-bit 4:2:2 video encoding along with the ACES (Academy Color Encoding System) standard.
  • Log Recording: An upcoming 2nm MediaTek Dimensity platform is expected to provide dedicated hardware-level Log processing, allowing the phones to record and output 4K video at 120fps in 10-bit Log.
  • Live Streaming: Native 8K Live direct output, with platform-level support for 8K streaming uploads planned.
