Steam Deck OLED launched with 7.4-inch 90Hz HDR display, new AMD APU, up to 1TB storage
Valve has launched an enhanced iteration of its handheld gaming device, the Steam Deck, known as the Steam Deck OLED. The primary improvement involves transitioning from an LCD to a 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display, presenting a 7.4-inch 90Hz screen with 1,000-nit brightness—an upgrade from the original 7-inch LCD.
The revamped Steam Deck features an AMD "6nm APU" (contrasting with the initial 7nm APU), incorporating a Zen 2-based 4-core/8-thread configuration with RDNA2 graphics. The OLED variant weighs 640g, which is 30g lighter than its LCD counterpart, and it is accompanied by a 45W power supply, a 2.5m cable, and an inclusive carrying case.
It incorporates enhanced functionalities such as Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, an improved haptic system, and a larger 50 Whr battery, ensuring a gaming duration of 3–12 hours—a 30-50% boost compared to the LCD models.
Valve is also introducing a limited-edition 1 TB Steam Deck OLED variant exclusively available in the US and Canada. This special edition features a transparent shell, an exclusive carrying case adorned with unique artwork, and an upgraded cooling system.
