Sony attaches G Lens branding to the Xperia Z1, raises our hopes
Sony holds a good place with professional photographers, who know that G Lens branding on their DSLR's and NEX cameras mean that they are ultimate in what Sony has to offer in terms of camera optics. So why would Sony brand the new Xperia Z1, better known as the Xperia i1 or Honami with G Lens for its camera?
It seems Sony is ready to take a slice of the camera smartphones market that seems to be burgeoning these days. The Nokia Lumia 1020 and Galaxy Zoom have already made inroads into the field, but Sony one of the pioneers of camera phones way back when the company made Cyber-shot phones under the moniker of Sony Ericsson, somehow hadn't joined the foray.
Well that's about to change with the Xperia Z1, which has a 20.7 MP G Lens branded sensor, with F2.0 aperture, 4K video capture and manual control over all settings. The Xperia Z1 is going to be unveiled on September 4th.
