Sony Launches Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact, and XA1 Plus - Price and Features
Sony has launched three new phones at IFA 2017, in Berlin. The three new smartphones - Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact, and XA1 Plus - all cater to different audiences. The XZ1 and XZ1 Compact feature Sony's new MotionEye camera with 3D-image sensing, HDR display, and Hi-Res audio.
The flagship Xperia XZ1 sports a 5.2-inch full HD HDR display protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Underneath the hood, it has Snapdragon 835 64-bit SoC coupled with Adreno 540 GPU and 4 GB of RAM. You can expand the 64 GB internal storage all the way up to 256 GB using a microSD card. When it comes to the camera department, XZ1 has a 19MP motion-eye rear camera with Exmor RS sensor. It uses predictive phase-detection and laser autofocus to keep a track of the subject. Even before you press the shutter key, its takes a few photos so that you never miss the action. In the front too, you get a 13MP seflie camera. The best thing about it is it will be shipped with the new Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Although 2700 mAh battery is somewhat a pitfall, the QuickCharge 3.0 makes up for it. The smartphone is dust and water resistant and rated with IP68 protection.
The best thing about the XZ1 and XZ1 Compact is that both will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Coming back to the specs again, the Xperia XZ1 spots are rather tiny 2700 mAh battery inside, it would be interesting to see how long it lasts with regular use. But you do have Quick Charge 3.0 to quickly top it up. The smartphone is dust and water resistant as well with IP68 rating.
XZ1 Compact is a smaller sibling of the regular XZ1. Although the main innards remain the same, it has a 4.6-inch 720P display. So you are getting very powerful innards in a very small form factor. It features the same 19-megapixel rear camera and 13MP front camera as the XZ1.
The XZ1 will come in both single and dual SIM variants whereas the XZ1 compact will only be available as a single SIM smartphone. The Xperia XZ1 has been priced at $699.99 (about Rs. 45,000) while the XZ1 Compact will be available at $599.99 (about Rs. 38,500) in the US.
The Xperia XA1 Plus is a mid-range device. It packs a 23 MP camera on the back and a wide angle 8 MP sensor on the front. This dual SIM smartphone runs on the MediaTek Helio P20 SoC coupled with Mali T880 MP2 GPU and 4 GB RAM. It has a full HD 5.5-inch display and 32 GB internal storage, which can further be expanded up to 256 GB.
The Sony Xperia XA1 Plus will be available in Gold, Black and Blue color options and will be available in Autumn 2017.
