Snapdragon Tech Summit 2024 Event will be held on Oct 21-23 Globally; will Introduce Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC with Oryon CPU

Qualcomm has officially scheduled its seventh annual Snapdragon Tech Summit for October 21st to 23rd, slightly earlier than last year's event. During the summit, the company is expected to unveil its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip featuring the Oryon CPU.

The invitation video for the event teases "The stars are aligning" with three bright stars in a straight line in Orion's Belt, alluding to the Oryon CPU. Qualcomm’s Chief Marketing Officer, Don McGuire, confirmed the Oryon CPU at MWC 2024. The new SoC is anticipated to feature an improved neural processing unit (NPU).

Previous reports indicate that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip (SM8750) with its self-developed prime core will achieve clock speeds up to 4.2GHz, the highest for any Snapdragon chip to date. GeekBench6 scores for the chip are projected to reach 3,000 points in single-core performance (an increase of 35.5%) and 10,000 points in multicore performance (an increase of 33.9%) compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

The chip is expected to utilize TSMC’s 3nm process technology. The Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro are likely to be the first smartphones to feature this chip, potentially launching in China as early as October, shortly after the chip's debut.
