According to the leaked renders, Samsung’s upcoming foldable phones feature a flat-closing design, signaling a significant design change. By adopting a more modern “waterdrop” hinge design, the company aims to achieve a sleeker and crease-free display, enhancing the overall user experience. The rendered image reveals that the Galaxy Z Fold5’s overall design remains similar to its predecessor, only the relocation of the LED near the rear cameras, now positioned on the side.

According to the Rumors, Samsung is working on a waterdrop hinge for the Galaxy Z Fold5, aiming to eliminate the screen gap issue when closed. This improvement could also contribute to a thinner form factor when folded. The Galaxy Z Fold5 might run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, similar to the Galaxy S23 series.

Leaker Ice Universe shared insights regarding the leaked Galaxy Z Fold5 poster. He mentioned that the real device may not be as thin as shown in the image, and clarified that the Type C socket appears squashed. Official data indicates the thickness of the phone is 6.1mm, which is only 02mm less than the 6.3mm of Fold4.

The render image of the phone shared by an anonymous source, highlights a larger cover display on the outside almost half of the unfolded rear panel, coinciding with CAD-based renders. It will feature a 3.4-inch outer display, compared to a 1.9-inch display in the predecessor. Samsung has used a slightly curving display for allowing space for the dual-camera setup. The increased display size has resulted in a horizontal alignment of the camera sensors and LED flash.

The rendered images also showcase various practical uses of the expanded cover display, such as utilizing it as a viewfinder for capturing high-quality images with the rear camera and controlling music playback and other features.
