Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 May be powered by new Exynos chipset

Samsung is preparing to unveil its latest Galaxy foldable smartphones later this year. Reports suggest that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 may opt for an Exynos processor instead of a Snapdragon. A tipster named Revegnus has floated this possibility, expressing some uncertainty but indicating that he wouldn't be surprised if the Exynos chipset is chosen for the Z Flip 6. This notion is also supported by another source, OreXDA.

Traditionally, Samsung has favored Snapdragon processors for its Fold and Flip models, as evidenced by the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5, both of which utilize Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips. This echoes Samsung's approach with the Galaxy S24 lineup, where regions like India and Europe receive models with the Exynos 2400, while the US, Canada, China, and Japan receive Snapdragon versions.

If Samsung indeed opts for the Exynos chip for the Galaxy Z Flip 6, it would signify a departure from its usual reliance on Qualcomm processors, potentially serving as a cost-saving measure. While it's expected that both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, the Exynos rumor suggests that European models may integrate the Exynos 2400.

Although the tipster specifically mentions the Galaxy Z Flip 6, not the Galaxy Z Fold 6, there remains hope that the latter will not follow suit. Nevertheless, the fate of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 remains uncertain. While the Exynos 2400 promises improved performance compared to its predecessor, consumers may still favor the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Both devices are anticipated to launch in July, with speculation pointing to July 10 as the potential launch date, though Samsung has yet to officially confirm this. Further details about the devices are expected to emerge as the launch date approaches.
