Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 with WQXGA displays go official

Samsung's Galaxy Premier 2014 is over and the company today announced two new tablets, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and the Galaxy Tab S 10.5. Both have WQXGA (1600x2560 Pixels) Super AMOLED displays with either Exynos 5 Octa (Quad-core Cortex-A15 1.9 GHz + Quad-core Cortex-A7 1.3 GHz) or 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 internals based on the region. Both run Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box. Both have 3 GB RAM and come with 16 / 32 GB internal storage, an LTE variant will also be available in select regions. Other connectivity options includes 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, Infrared LED, GPS with GLONASS. There's a 8 MP rear camera on both alongwith a 2.1 MP front-facing unit.

The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has been blessed with a 4900 mAh battery while the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 makes do with a larger 7900 mAh battery. 

The displays used on both the phones is the big highlight here. Samsung has included Adaptive Display tech which allows for automatic gamma, saturation and sharpness to be adjusted based on the content being watched, and color temperatures based on ambient lighting. The new Super AMOLED displays used on the Galaxy Tab S series cover 90% of the Adobe RGB standard.

Coming to other features, Samsung has teamed up with Marvel to provide access to over 15,000 Marvel Comics for 3 months with Marvel Unlimited Android app. NetFlix has also come aboard with free HD streaming in few countries. Both the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 also feature fingerprint scanners like the GS5, Ultra Power saving mode, Story Album, S Translator, Group Play and other software features.

The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 will be available in select regions by end of June 2014 in Titanium Bronze and Dazzling White colors. The WiFi variant of the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has been priced at $399 (about Rs. 23,700) and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 at $499 (about Rs. 29,700). There are a few accessories in store fo the tablets as well including the new Book Cover, Simple Cover and the Bluetooth Keyboard.
