Samsung Galaxy Note 8 India Launch set for September 12
Samsung India has begun sending invites for the launch of the Galaxy Note 8 in India. The event will take place on September 12th, the same day Apple is set to announce the iPhone 8. The Note8 comes with a 6.3-inch Quad-HD+ Infinity display and dual 12-megapixel rear cameras with 2x optical zoom.
The Galaxy Note8 has a more rectangular design compared to the curvier Galaxy S8+. It also includes an Iris scanner along with a fingerprint scanner for added security. It is also IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. Samsung is doubling down on Bixy integration, and you get a dedicated button here as well which cannot be remapped to any other app.
The S-Pen too has been improved with a finer tip and higher pressure sensitivity. Off-screen memo can now take longer notes as well.
The new camera on the Note8 is one of its most striking features if you forget the display for a second. The primary 12-megapixel rear camera has a wide-angle lens with f/1.7 aperture while the second 12-megapixel camera has a telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture capable of 2X optical zoom. Moreover, both the lenses are optically stabilized (OIS), meaning there are fewer chances for blurry shots.
Then there's Live focus, which lets you change the Bokeh level you want in the image and focus on a particular point even after the image has been captured. Moreover, the Note8 also features dual shot, meaning it captures an image with both the wide-angle and telephoto cameras at the same time. So you can choose which to keep later.
The Note8 in India would be powered by the Samsung Exynos 9 series 8895 processor with Mali-G71 MP20 GPU which we have already seen on the S8+. But you get 6GB RAM here and 64GB internal storage which is expandable. The battery has been reduced to 3300 mAh and it supports fast wired and wireless charging (WPC and PMA). It is expected to be priced around Rs. 74000 at launch.
The Galaxy Note8 launch event begins at 12:30 PM on September 12th in India and it will be streamed live on news.samsung.com/in.
