Samsung Galaxy Note 7 launched with Iris Scanner, IP68 dust and water resistance

Samsung today launched the Galaxy Note 7 at simultaneous events around the world featuring an Iris scanner and IP68 dust/water resistance.

Coming to specs, the Note 7 will come with a 5.7-inch Quad-HD Super AMOLED display running on the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor or the Exynos 8890 based on region of launch. There's 4GB RAM on offer with 64GB onboard storage which is expandable with a hybrid microSD card slot up to 256GB. You also have a Barometer, Gyroscope, Heart-rate sensor as well.

Actually the Specs of the Galaxy Note 7 are

similar to the S7 series.

The Galaxy Note 7 also comes with a USB Type C port which supports fast charging and can charge the 3500 mAh battery in just 100 minutes flat. If you are not a fan of cables you can also use fast wireless charging and yes there is a 3.5mm headphone jack here. Looking at you Motorola.

Iris Scanner

The Galaxy Note 7 comes with an Iris scanner as well to improve security. You can use it to make transactions over Samsung Pay as well. The Note 7 also has a Secure Folder which adds an extra layer of security to protect private apps and data. The fingerprint sensor is now faster as well, if you don't want to use Iris recognition.

Galaxy Note 7 S-Pen Features

Samsung has gone with a similar design as the Galaxy S7 Edge for the new Note, making it curved on both the front and back. The S-pen is tucked at the bottom and comes with a clicky button same as the last-gen Galaxy Note 5. Although this time the S-Pen will be body colored with a dual-tone finish. There are some new neat features including improved air gestures here, moreover you can even write when the screen is wet. Meaning even when you are underwater, you can keep taking notes.

The tip has been made thinner at just 0.7mm to improve accuracy and thr display pressure sensitivity has also been increased (4096 levels opposed to 2048 last year). You can now record just specific parts of the screen and turn them into GIFs. Air Command get two new functions, you can now Magnify selected text and translate it as well.

Cameras

There's the same excellent 12MP rear camera on the Galaxy Note 7 as the S7 which comes with dual-pixel autofocus which covers the entire sensor, making it one the phones to focus fastest even in low light. Optical Image Stabilization adds to better images even if you have shaky hands. In the front you have a 5MP camera with a wide-angle lens which I have always admired on Samsung smartphones.

Color Options

It will come in Black Onyx (my favorite), Silver Titanium, Gold Platinum and Blue Coral colors.
