REDMI 17 and REDMI 17 5G launched Globally with 6.9-inch 120Hz display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 SoC, 7500mAh battery
Xiaomi has officially launched its latest smartphone in the Number Series lineup, the REDMI 17 and REDMI 17 5G for global markets. The launch follows the recent debut of the REDMI Note 17 in India. The new devices bring a combination of large batteries, high-refresh-rate displays, capable cameras, and updated processors across 4G and 5G variants.
Display and Design
Both smartphones feature a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate and a centered punch-hole design. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and is backed by an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. Xiaomi has also included Wet Touch Technology, Triple TÜV Rheinland eye-care certifications, and DC dimming for a more comfortable viewing experience.
The devices sport a flat display, a matte-finished frame, and a Metal Deco camera design. They also feature a Dynamic RGB Light system that delivers visual notifications for incoming calls, charging status, gaming, and app alerts.
Performance and Software
The REDMI 17 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra processor, while the REDMI 17 5G runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform. Both models offer up to 6GB RAM along with memory expansion support for up to 12GB of virtual RAM. They run Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, offering smoother animations and improved overall system responsiveness.
Camera and Audio
For photography, both smartphones are equipped with a 50MP AI dual rear camera setup accompanied by an 8MP front-facing camera. Camera features include dual-view video recording, allowing users to capture footage simultaneously from both the front and rear cameras.
Audio is handled by dual stereo speakers with a volume boost feature capable of delivering up to 300% louder sound for an enhanced multimedia experience.
Battery and Charging
The REDMI 17 series packs a massive 7500mAh battery with support for 45W turbo charging. Xiaomi says the battery can be fully charged in approximately 96 minutes, while a quick 35-minute charge provides enough power for everyday use. The phones also support 22.5W wired reverse charging for powering compatible accessories and other devices.

Pricing and Availability
The REDMI 17 is available in Black, Deep Blue, Oak Green, and Lotus Purple colour options. Pricing starts at USD 179 (approximately Rs. 17,040) for the 4GB + 128GB variant.
The REDMI 17 5G comes in Black, Deep Blue, and Vivid Orange with a premium PU leather finish. It starts at USD 249 (approximately Rs. 23,710) for the 4GB + 128GB model and is also offered in 4GB + 256GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 6GB + 256GB configurations.
Xiaomi is expected to begin the global rollout of the REDMI 17 series soon, with an India launch also anticipated in the near future.
