POCO X8 5G launched Globally with 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 SoC, IP69K ratings, 8340mAh battery

POCO has launched its latest smartphone in the X8 series, the POCO X8 in global markets, focused on long-lasting battery performance, a large high-resolution display, and enhanced durability. The device combines a high-capacity silicon-carbon battery with a rugged build, upgraded display technology, and a Snapdragon processor.

Battery and Charging

The POCO X8 is equipped with an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery featuring 13% silicon content. This represents a 63.2% increase in capacity compared with its predecessor. POCO claims the smartphone can deliver more than two days of usage on a single charge.

The battery is designed to retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charging cycles, equivalent to around six years of typical usage. It has also received a 5-star Battery Performance Certification from TÜV SÜD.

Charging features include:

• 67W HyperCharge for fast wired charging
• 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing the phone to charge other compatible devices

Display and Design

The POCO X8 features a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED display with a flagship-grade luminous material. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 3,200 nits of peak brightness, while POCO also claims up to 3,500 nits under specific measurement conditions.

The display supports 12-bit color depth, HDR10+, 3,840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and DC dimming. TÜV Rheinland eye-care certifications are also included to help reduce eye strain during extended viewing.

The phone adopts a flat display with slim bezels, geometric design elements, and a sandblasted middle frame. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects against accidental drops, with the glass rated to withstand drops from heights of up to 3 meters.

Durability and Water Resistance

Durability is another major focus of the POCO X8. The smartphone carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications, offering protection against dust, water, and high-pressure or high-temperature water exposure.

The device also includes a dedicated Underwater Mode that enables users to capture photos and videos while the phone is submerged.

Performance and Software

The POCO X8 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform, built using a 4nm process. The chipset features an octa-core CPU configuration and an integrated Adreno GPU for handling graphics-intensive applications and 3D workloads.

On the software front, the phone runs Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3. The software experience includes the Xiaomi HyperIsland interface and integrated Google Gemini AI assistance.

For connectivity, the smartphone supports Xiaomi Offline Communication for communication in areas without conventional network connectivity. It also features a speaker mode capable of boosting volume by up to 300%.

Camera System

The POCO X8 features a 50MP primary rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). The rear camera setup is accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor and supports video recording at up to 1080p resolution.

A 16MP front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls, with support for 1080p video recording.

Camera features include dual-video recording, allowing simultaneous capture from the front and rear cameras. The phone also offers AI-powered editing tools such as AI Glare Removal, AI Erase Pro, AI Image Expansion, AI Image Enhancement, and AI Beautify.

POCO has confirmed that the smartphone will roll out in additional markets soon. In India, the POCO X8 5G is scheduled to launch on September 4, where it is expected to feature an even larger 9,000mAh battery.
