OnePlus 12 to be launched on December 5 with 2K BOE X1 OLED LTPO display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, Sony LYT-808 sensor

OnePlus has announced that it will unveil its flagship smartphone the OnePlus 12 in China on December 5th, after confirming its 10th anniversary event on December 4th. Officially revealing the phone's design, the company showcased a center punch-hole screen and three color options: black, white, and green with distinctive patterns on the green variant. The renders also highlight the inclusion of 'H' branding for Hasselblad, with the flash positioned outside the camera ring.

A notable change is the relocation of the Alert Slider to the left side of the phone. OnePlus claims that this adjustment allows for the introduction of a new integrated antenna and Alert Slider solution, contributing to improved antenna performance specifically tailored for gaming.

According to OnePlus, Through internal testing, it has been ascertained that the most effective placement for gaming antennas is between the forefingers of the user when the phone is held horizontally for gaming. However, this space is currently utilized by the Alert Slider on the OnePlus 11. To address this, the OnePlus 12 relocates the Alert Slider to the opposite side, allowing for the implementation of superior gaming antennas.

The adjustment in the Alert Slider's position poses a challenge in maintaining optimal antenna signal strength on the same side of the phone. In response, OnePlus employs Ultra-compact Full-band Antenna technology and groundbreaking Alert Slider Antenna Integration technology to minimize the space occupied by the Alert Slider as much as possible. This strategic approach achieves a balance between enhanced antenna signal performance and the retention of the Alert Slider on the OnePlus 12. According to OnePlus' laboratory test data, the gaming antenna signal sees a 3dB improvement, leading to a 15% reduction in-game latency.

Available in the Flowy Emerald colorway inspired by the marvels of the natural world, the OnePlus 12 draws its design inspiration from the ever-changing and fluid patterns found in braided rivers. The phone employs the latest AG technology to imprint this design onto the glass surface, resulting in a meticulously crafted texture that faithfully replicates the interwoven strands, breathing vibrant life into the device and seamlessly harmonizing with its cutting-edge technology, according to OnePlus.

Recent confirmations from OnePlus include the use of the Sony LYT-808 sensor and a 1/2-inch 64MP OV64B periscope telephoto lens with a 70mm equivalent focal length, providing support for 3x optical zoom. The phone boasts a 2K "X1 (Oriental) Screen" from BOE with a brightness of up to 2600 nits and OPPO's first-generation self-developed image quality engine Display P1 chip. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, the OnePlus 12 is rumored to feature up to 24GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and a 5400mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.

In addition to the OnePlus 12, OnePlus is expected to unveil the OnePlus 12R, OnePlus Watch 2, and more. The company has initiated global teasers for the OnePlus 12 and is anticipated to launch it outside of China in January 2024.
