Nokia P1 Android smartphone pops up with an AMOLED display, Metal body
Nokia's demise started when they decided to sell their soul to Microsoft but their still home. Nokia is coming back in a new avatar under new leadership with HMD Global and Foxconn will be manufacturing their new Android smartphones.
Some new information coming in from China says that the Nokia P1 will be the company's flagship Android smartphone running on Nougat with the company's Z launcher. The Nokia P1 would be offered in two display size variants, 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch both with Quad-HD (2560x1440 pixels) resolution with an AMOLED panel. Given that both of these are expected to be high-end devices, we may see the Snapdragon 820/821 running on these phones. The source also says that both phones will be IP68 rated for dust and water resistance.
The Nokia P1 would be made out of metal and it is expected to hit the market by the end of this year. We have already seen another smartphone, the Nokia D1C hit GeekBench with budget specifications. This does lend belief that the company would be launching smartphones in more than one segment.
Although there is no confirmation on the specs or design of these phones, given Nokia's prowess in industrial design, we may see some very exciting smartphones soon. This year has been more about refinement from the smartphone giants Samsung and Apple, but we need a bit of intrigue back in the space.
