Nokia Lumia 630 Dual-SIM Gaming Review

Nokia Lumia 630 Dual-SIM is one of the first devices running retail Windows Phone 8.1. But it only comes with 512 MB RAM therefore the Adreno 305 GPU won't be tested on high-end games. On Windows Phone, most high-end games require 1 GB or more RAM. But we were still able to find some games that are playable. Let's find out how the Lumia 630 performs at gaming in our review.

Gaming Review

We played several games on the Nokia Lumia 630 including Asphalt 8, Six Guns, Assassin's Creed, Mirror's Edge, Temple Run 2 and Moto GP. Games generally ran smooth, there was a little hiccup here and there. Touch response remained excellent throughout, plus the display has excellent viewing angles as well as great color reproduction. The speakerphone is quite loud and clear as well which adds to the gameplay experience. But you are left wondering about the high-end games like Modern Combat 4, NOVA 3 as they might have been playable as well especially given the Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and Adreno 305 GPU.

Now apps are movable to the SD card with Windows Phone 8.1, so we moved Asphalt 8 and ran it from there. But there was no difference in performance which is always a good thing. But the Lumia 630 gets quite hot while playing games continuously especially near the top of the display and near the camera module at the back. But till now we have noticed this with heavy usage and continuous gaming.

Conclusion

Some high-end games like Asphalt 8, Six Guns, Assassin's Creed are definitely playable at good framerate. But it seems like a missed opportunity that the Lumia 630 doesn't have 1 GB RAM, there would have been a lot many games supported and it seems that the quad-core processor and Adreno 305 GPU are going to waste here.

It goes get quite hot while playing games as well, which is something to keep note of and we will ke investigating whether its just in gaming or general use as well.
