Nokia planning Asha Platform 1.4 update with Parental Controls and MixRadio

Nokia is planning to update its Asha Platform of low-cost devices to version 1.4 which will add parental controls alongwith Nokia's MixRadio service. Speaking on the matter, a Nokia spokesperson said that Asha still represents one of the most enticing opportunities for the company in emerging markets and each update to the platform will be made available for free to all Asha users. There's not much known about how Parental controls are supposed to work, quite possibly there would be access protection to the app store, files, contacts and other features when enabled.

The new update will bring the popular MixRadio service which has already found its way on Android with the Nokia X. It transmits music with low-bitrate over the internet to your device and is therefore quite adequate for emerging markets where stable and fast internet connectivity is still not available. The Asha 1.4 update will also include updated to Nokia Fastlane to improve how it handles images as well as twitter notifications.

Nokia Asha 1.4 update is expected to arrive in April to all existing Asha devices starting with India, Russia, Indonesia. Thailand and several other countries. Stay tuned as we find out more about the update.
