Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 Pure Android smartphones announced, will be coming in Q2 2017
Nokia just went official with 3 Android smartphones at MWC 2017. All three phones cater to the entry-level to mid-range segment. The Nokia 6 has been available for some time in China but the global variant will run stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and the company also promises regular monthly updates.
The other two offerings are the cheaper Nokia 3 and the middle-child Nokia 5. All phones would run on stock Android.
Nokia 6
The global variant of the Nokia 6 packs the same specs including the 5.5-inch 1080p display and comes with a unibody metal construction. The sides of the phone are rounded making it easier to grip with the matte finish of the back. The antenna bands have been moved to the top and bottom to keep the design more uniform. It runs on the Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor with 3GB/4GB RAM option alongwith 32GB/64GB of internal storage. It also has a fingerprint sensor in the front.
It also has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture lens, PDAF and dual-tone LED flash. It also has a 8MP front camera for selfies. All this is powered by a 3000 mAh battery which is non-removable.
Nokia 5
The Nokia 5 has a smaller 5.2-inch 1080p display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The entire body of the phone is made with a single piece of aluminium which, according to the company, adds more durability. The antenna bands have been moved to the top and bottom of the phone to keep the design more consistent. It also has a 13MP rear and 8MP front camera. There's NFC here as well for mobile payments.
It has been priced at 189 euros or about Rs. 13,500 and will be available in Q2 2017.

Nokia 3
The Nokia 3 is the smallest of the bunch with a 5-inch display, running on the MediaTek MT6737 processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage. It has a polycarbonate body with an aluminium frame supporting it. You get 8MP cameras in both the front and back.
Nokia 3 will also be shipping in Q2 2017 priced around 139 euros or about $147 (Rs. 9700).
While many were expecting Nokia to reveal a premium smartphone at MWC 2017 to compete with the likes of the Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7. Its good to see HMD taking time to come back to the market and start by laying the ground work first.
