Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid are just getting their July Security patch now
Motorola flagships are just getting their first software update, that too with July Security patch at a time when Google is about to release the September patch to protect against known vulnerabilities.
The new OTA update for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force weighs in at about 436MB and the changelog is a bit misleading given that it says we are getting the latest Android security updates. But you do get certain "enhancements, improvements."
August security patches have been sent out to most smartphones and now Google should be ready with next month's release. We have heard this before from Lenovo that they will not be able to update smartphones on a monthly basis, instead they are opting for cumulative updates.
This would mean that even you new Motorola flagship will remain vulnerable to known threats, till Lenovo can get its act together.
