Moto G5s and G5s Plus India Launch Set for August 29; will Go on Sale as Amazon Exclusives

After Motorola Mobility's acquisition, Lenovo has been frequently launching new smartphones. The company had already launched Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus globally. And, now they are bringing both to India.

The smaller Moto G5S sports a unibody metal design along with a 5.2-inch full HD display. Underneath the hood, it has Snapdragon 430 SoC clocked at 1.4 GHz. Even though the smartphone runs on Android Nougat, it isn’t the latest 7.1.2. The rear camera features a 16 MP sensor and the selfie camera has a 5MP sensor with a wide angle lens. Unlike the Moto G5, the G5S is powered by 3000 mAh battery.

Moto G5S Plus, on the other hand, has a 5.5-inch full HD display. The processing power is provided by Snapdragon 625. The smartphone will come in two different variants; 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM. Moto G5S Plus’s rear shooter follows the dual camera trend and features two 13 MP sensors with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera has an 8 MP sensor and it has the same 3000 mAh battery.

We expect the phones will support the usual Moto gestures. Both the smartphones have a water repellent nano coating. It seems like Motorola also taking a stab at the offline market too. The base variant Moto G5S will only go on sale via offline stores whereas G5S Plus will hit the market as an Amazon exclusive.

We haven’t got any details about the Indian pricing yet. In Europe, Moto G5S starts at 249 EUR (or approx Rs 18,875), while the Moto G5S Plus at 299 EUR (or approx Rs 22,667).

The company has already started sending out media invites for the launch. Amazon.in too has created a dedicated page for the smartphone. You can provide your email address there to get notified of the availability.
