iQOO Neo12 to Launch in Late October with 2K 185Hz Display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, 9000mAh Battery

iQOO has confirmed the launch of its upcoming smartphone in the Neo series, iQOO Neo12 in late October in China. Luo Feng, Vice President of iQOO Products, announced the launch timeline during a joint display technology communication conference held with Visionox and Tsinghua University. The smartphone will succeed last year’s Neo11, bringing significant upgrades to display technology, gaming performance, cooling, and battery capacity.

Presentation slides shown at the event also hinted at the launch timeline with the message “See you in October.”

The Neo12 will complement iQOO’s numbered digital flagship series as part of the company’s dual-flagship strategy, focusing on premium display technology, high-performance hardware, and enhanced gaming capabilities.

Display Innovations

The iQOO Neo12 will introduce several display technologies developed in collaboration with Visionox and Tsinghua University.

  • 2K 185Hz Super Crown Screen: The smartphone will feature what the company describes as an industry-first combination of 2K resolution and a 185Hz refresh rate, powered by pTSF technology.
  • Display Driver and Luminescent Materials: It will incorporate a dedicated high-performance driver chip designed for 2K resolution at 185Hz, alongside a new luminescent material called “Sky Mirror.”
  • Brightness and Eye Protection: The display will deliver a full-screen peak brightness of 2200 nits and support a minimum brightness of 1 nit for comfortable viewing in dark environments. It will also feature a proprietary XDR dynamic range enhancement system and Circularly Polarized Light Display 2.0 technology, designed to reduce eye strain and power consumption.

Core Hardware and Cooling

The iQOO Neo12 will combine flagship-grade processing hardware with dedicated gaming optimization and an advanced thermal management system.

  • Processor: The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, paired with iQOO’s in-house Q3 gaming chip.
  • Performance Optimization: The next-generation Monster Hyper-Core Engine will manage system performance and gaming workloads.
  • Cooling System: An “Ice Dome” active air-cooling solution with an integrated cooling fan will help control temperatures during demanding gaming sessions.
  • Battery and Charging: The smartphone will pack a 9000mAh single-cell “Blue Ocean” battery based on fifth-generation silicon-anode technology, offering an energy density of up to 916Wh/L.

Gaming Capabilities and Software Features

High-frame-rate gaming and synchronized rendering will be among the key highlights of the iQOO Neo12.

  • High-Resolution Rendering: The device will support concurrent 2K resolution and 185FPS super-resolution and super-frame processing, which iQOO describes as an industry-first implementation.
  • Native Gaming Support: It will offer native support for 2K ultra-high-definition gaming profiles and compatibility with more than 50 games supporting native 185FPS gameplay.
  • Graphics Enhancements: Additional features will include full-scene hardware-accelerated ray tracing, dedicated game visual filters, in-game camera tools, and glare protection.
  • Touch Response: The Neo12 will also incorporate Q-flex touch control technology, featured in the flagship iQOO 16 line, to improve touch responsiveness during gameplay.

Design and Security

The iQOO Neo12 will feature a metal middle frame and a square rear camera module design. For security and biometric authentication, the smartphone will include an under-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

The iQOO Neo12 is scheduled to make its official commercial debut before the end of October. The company is expected to announce the final pricing, sales details, and regional availability at the launch event.
