iQOO 8 series to be launched on August 17 with 2K Samsung E5 OLED LTPO 120Hz Display, 50MP Triple rear cameras and more
Update - Today, iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO 8 Pro smartphone will feature a triple rear camera setup where a 50MP primary camera with VIS five-axis Gimbal stabilization along with a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and there is an additional camera on the side that could be a portrait or telephoto camera. The teaser image shows aperture f/1.75 to f/2.23 and a 14-60 focal length ASPH lens.
It has also posted an image shot by the iQOO 8 Pro. The company already confirmed Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC paired with LPDDR5 RAM, UFS3.1 storage, and an independent display chip.
Last year iQOO introduced its partnership with BMW by launching the iQOO 5 Pro phone and collaboration will continue with the upcoming iQOO 8 series. A leaked poster of the iQOO 8 series phones has surfaced that will come in black and white versions with the latter sporting the German automaker’s signature blue, violet, and red-colored stripes.
Update 2 - iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO 8 will be the first phone in the world to feature E5 high-brightness luminescent material, 1 billion colors, 2K resolution, and 517 PPI pixel density. The image also shows a center punch-hole camera. Increasing the brightness shows a long ridge on which could be an under-display speaker or a design.
Earlier - iQOO has confirmed the launch of its latest flagship smartphone the iQOO 8 series in China on August 17th, after rumors, and teasers at the China Joy Expo last week The company doesn’t reveal any specifications of the phones, but earlier rumors revealed that these phones will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 Plus processor with clocked up to 3GHz.
As we know that this will probably be the second phone with Snapdragon 888 Plus since the HONOR Magic3 series that will be launched on August 12th that already confirmed will use the chip. Earlier rumors said that the iQOO 8 will come with a 2K Samsung E5 OLED LTPO screen (3200 x 1440 pixels) with 1~120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 10-bit colors using the COP package, and a recent image from the China Joy event revealed a centered single punch-hole front camera.
Other rumors revealed that these come with up to 12GB of RAM + up to 4GB of virtual RAM, and will likely run OriginOS based on Android 11 and use a periscope lens for zoom and support for wireless charging, which are missed in the iQOO 7. It also confirmed that the phones will support 120W fast charging.
The iQOO 8 series event will be held on August 17th at 7:30 PM China time (5 PM IST). We should know more details and the full specifications of the phones in the coming days.
