iQOO 16 launched with 6.85-inch 2K+ 165Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 SoC, IP69 ratings, 8400mAh battery

iQOO has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16 in China, as previously announced. The new model brings a major hardware refresh focused on gaming performance, display technology, thermal control, imaging, and battery capacity.

Design and Display

The iQOO 16 is available in three finishes: “Light Chaser,” “Racing Track,” and “Legend.” At the back, the camera Deco adopts a floating-style construction beneath the glass panel, with three camera sensors arranged in an interconnected triangular layout. The phone features rounded corners and a gently curved frame that transitions smoothly into the rear panel.

On the front, the smartphone sports a 6.85-inch 2K Samsung Everest display with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. High-refresh-rate support is available across the top 100 everyday applications and more than 50 games.

The display features Samsung’s M16 luminescent material combined with 2K LEAD 2.0 technology, which reduces power consumption by 31% compared with a similarly sized 1.5K panel.

It delivers up to 2,800 nits of global peak brightness and up to 10,000 nits of local peak brightness. The panel also incorporates an in-house solar algorithm and an anti-reflective (AR) surface film for improved outdoor visibility.

For eye protection, the display uses non-polarized light emission designed to replicate natural lighting. It further supports full-brightness DC dimming, up to 3,300Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and a dedicated glare-protection mode for gaming.

Performance, Cooling, and Gaming

The iQOO 16 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Ultra (Gen 6 Extreme) platform, manufactured using a 2nm process. The flagship has achieved an AnTuTu benchmark score of approximately 5.57 million points.

For sustained performance, iQOO has equipped the phone with an 8,500 mm² single-layer 3D vapor chamber (VC), positioned closer to the main heat-generating components. The cooling system is further reinforced by a three-layer graphite structure with a combined area of 29,453 mm².

The device also features the updated Monster Hyper-Core Engine and an integrated Hyper-Core scheduler for dynamically managing workloads and allocating system resources according to usage.

Graphics and Frame Enhancement

The dedicated Q4 gaming chip adds full-scene ray tracing and the QNSS super-rendering engine. It enables simultaneous 2K resolution and 165fps frame interpolation in six major mobile games.

The system also offers native QNSS rendering profiles for 11 games, 2K super-resolution support for 13 games, and 165fps modes across hundreds of titles.

For content creators and streamers, the phone includes an 8K gaming camera pipeline along with a dedicated live broadcast assistant.

Camera

The rear camera setup is headlined by a large 1/1.3-inch primary sensor, which offers a 79% increase in light intake compared with the previous generation’s high-end benchmark.

Image processing is handled by the NICE 3.0 optical reconstruction engine and Super Light and Shadow HDR software, designed to enhance detail, dynamic range, and lighting performance.

The telephoto camera uses a 50MP Sony periscope sensor with CIPA 5.0 optical image stabilization.

The camera system also includes vivo-derived color profiles such as Original Color, Chasing Light, and Rich Color. In addition, the phone supports 4K Ultra HD Live Photos with customizable cover frames and layered styles.

Software, Battery, and Charging

The iQOO 16 runs OriginOS 7 and introduces several new productivity and multitasking features. Its Atomic Workbench can run up to five applications simultaneously on a single screen, while Little V Dynamic Components enables automated task creation and personalized desktop utilities.

The smartphone packs an 8,400mAh Blue Ocean battery. Charging options include 100W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging.

For extended gaming sessions, the phone also supports a global direct-drive power supply that can bypass the battery and supply power directly to the device, helping reduce battery load during intensive use.
