Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to be available in India starting September 29 priced at Rs. 64000
Apple took the covers off the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus today along with the much awaited iPhone X (iPhone 10) at its new headquarters. The new iPhones are just incremental upgrades over the iPhone 7, although they do come with a somewhat refreshed design.
Both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus now have a glass back, while the front design remains the same along with large bezels and TouchID. The two glass layers are kept together by an aluminum frame. Thanks to the glass back, both of them now support Qi wireless charging as well. They are water resistant and feature stereo speakers which are 25 percent louder than the iPhone 7 and offer richer bass.
The biggest upgrades on the iPhone 8 is the Apple A11 Bionic chipset. It features two powerful cores and four power-efficient cores which make this processor 70% more powerful than the A10 found on the iPhone 7 in terms of multitasking. The new chipset has been designed keeping Augmented Reality in mind. Apple A11 also features the company's first in-house GPU that is said to be 25% more powerful than in predecessor.
As far as other specs are concerned, the iPhone 8 gets a 4.7-inch Retina HD True Tone display and the same camera setup as the iPhone 7 with a single 12MP rear camera. The iPhone 8 Plus, on the other hand, has a 5.5-inch True Tone display and dual 12MP rear cameras. The primary camera has a f/1.8 aperture lens, optical image stabilization while the telephoto lens gets an f/2.8 lens offering 2x optical zoom. The selfie camera remains the same on both.
Connectivity options include LTE-A support, Bluetooth 5.0. These will be available in Silver, Space Grey and Gold color options.
Coming to pricing, the iPhone 8 comes in 64GB and 256GB storage options priced at Rs. 64000 for the base variant. The iPhone 8 Plus has been priced at $799 in the US. Both will be available in India starting September 29.
