Huawei is now suing Samsung for patent infringement

Chinese manufacturers have had a reputation of copying both hardware and software ideas from their competition, but in a strange twist, Huawei is suing Samsung for patent infringement in California (US) and Shenzhen (China).

Although specifics will be out later, Huawei claims that Samsung infringed on its patents relating to 4G cellular communications technology, operating systems and software. Now, if you are not aware, Huawei just doesn't make smartphones in-fact the biggest part of their business is dealing in telecommunications equipment and the company holds more than 50,000 patents to that effect.

However, Huawei is taking the high-road here and wants to resolve the dispute amicably. The company's IP Chief, Ding Jianxing made the following statement on the lawsuit:

We hope Samsung will respect Huawei’s R&D investment and patents, stop infringing our patents and get the necessary licence from Huawei, and work together with Huawei to jointly drive the industry forward.

Samsung has been warding-off attacks from Apple's litigators for quite some time now and this lawsuit would be intriguing, to say the least. Lets see what new revelations come our way in the next few weeks.
