HUAWEI P50 series to be launched on July 29 with Leica rear cameras, Sony IMX800 sensor

Today, HUAWEI has confirmed the launch of its latest flagship smartphone the HUAWEI P50 series at an event in China on July 29th. The company’s CEO Richard Yu said that “The road forward has no end, this time we surpass ourselves in the field of imaging again”, and also said that this pioneer new mobile imaging technology in the industry.

Last month, the HUAWEI teaser of the P50 Pro smartphone posted image shows two camera cutouts in a circular module with triple cameras in the first one and a single camera in the second which is said to be a variable aperture liquid lens that was introduced first in the Mi MIX Fold back in March. There are two flash modules and have VARIO-SUMMILUX-H 1:1.8-3.4/18-125 ASPH lens.

The HUAWEI P50 is said to come with a new IMX707 sensor along with a 40MP Sony IMX600 RYYB sensor and a 3X telephoto camera, while the P50 Pro is said to feature the high-end Sony IMX800 sensor along with a 64MP OV64A sensor,  5X periscope camera, and a ToF/ new sensor.

    

Earlier rumors revealed that the HUAWEI P50 Pro will come with a 6.6-inch OLED curved screen with a single punch-hole that has been moved to the top center, and should ditch the IR camera for face unlock. The phone is also said to ditch the magnetic earpiece speaker for a standard earpiece.  The P50 Pro+ version is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC due to Kirin 9000 chip shortage. The P50 could come with a 6.3-inch flat screen, as seen in the leaked image.

HUAWEI also announced the latest Band 6 Pro, smart screen, new SoundX flamingo, and more devices expected in the HUAWEI P50 series launch event. We should know more detail and the full specifications of the phones in the coming days.
