Huawei launches Nova and Nova Plus smartphones with Snapdragon 625 at IFA 2016

Huawei has just announced two new smartphones in its stable, the Nova and Nova Plus both of which run on the Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor and come with a fingerprint sensor.

The Huawei Nova has a 5-inch 1080p display covered in 2.5D curved glass with 1.8mm thin bezels for 76% screen-to-body ratio. There's 3GB RAM onboard with 32GB internal storage which is expandable with the hybrid microsd/sim slot. It runs on Android Marshmallow with Huawei's EMUI 4.1 on top. You get a 12MP rear camera with 1.25-micron large pixel size, PDAF and LED flash alongwith a f/2.0 8MP front-facing camera.

The design of the phone is quite similar to the Nexus 6P atleast from the back. Huawei Nova packs a 3020 mAh battery inside which is non-removable and charges over the USB Type-C port on the phone. You have dual-SIM 4G LTE support with dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

The Nova Plus on the other hand has a larger 5.5-inch display again with 2.5D-curved glass on top running on the same SD625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU with 3GB RAM, 32GB storage which is expandable. You have an upgraded 16MP rear camera here with PDAF (phase-detection auto-focus), Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and dual-tone LED flash. There is an 8MP front camera here too with f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity options are similar with dual-SIM 4G LTE support, dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and its powered by a 3340 mAh battery. You get a USB Type-C port here as well but there is no mention of quick charging.

The Huawei Nova has been priced at 399 Euros ($445 / Rs. 29800) and will be available in prestige gold, mystic silver and titanium grey colors. While the Nova Plus shares the same color palette but comes in at 429 Euros ($479 / Rs. 32000). Both will go on sale in October.
