HUAWEI Mate X5 launched with 7.85-inch foldable and 6.45-inch cover 120Hz OLED displays, Satellite Message, Air Gesture Controls

Huawei has launched its latest foldable smartphone the Huawei Mate X5 in China along with the Huawei Mate 60 Pro Plus. This is the successor of the Mate X3 that was introduced back in March 2023. It has the same 7.85-inch OLED screen on the inside with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, 1440 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and the external display has a 6.4-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 1-120Hz refresh rate with a 300Hz touch sampling rate.

It runs on the Kirin 9000s processor with 16GB RAM, up to 1TB storage, and is based on the latest HarmonyOS 4, which Introduces innovative air gesture controls that allow you to navigate videos, webpages, and images without the need to physically interact with the primary screen. It has a triple rear camera setup where a 50MP primary camera along with a 13MP ultra wide-angle, 12MP 5X telephoto lens, and an 8MP front-facing camera on the inner and outer screen.

Another noteworthy feature is the newly redesigned antenna system, which is said to enhance signal reception. Huawei's Lingxi antenna incorporates an AI algorithm to automatically select the most suitable network for optimal connectivity. Additionally, the antennas positioned around the device's frame utilize dual-mode tuning technology to further enhance signal quality.

The Mate X5 is additionally rated as IPX8 waterproof and provides support for two-way BeiDou satellite messaging within China. The phone is powered by a large 5060mAh silicon carbon battery that supports 66W wired, 50W wireless fast charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging.

Pricing and Availability -

The HUAWEI Mate X5 comes in Feather Sand White, Feather Sand Black, Feather Sand Gold, Aoyama Dai, and Phantom Purple colors. It will be available from September 15 in China and the pre-order has started now. The price of the phone is still not disclosed.
