Here are all the expected announcements at Google I/O 2016
Google I/O 2016 will start in less than 10 hours and we already have some teasers/hints as to what is expected. This is a rundown of everything we expect to be announced at I/O 2016.
Android N
This would be the most interesting part of I/O 2016. Every year at I/O a new Android version is announced and but this year it’s going to be a bit different. For the first time Google has already pushed out the Developer preview way ahead of the I/O indicating that they want to push out the stable update as early as possible. We may actually get to know what Android N may be finally called, "Nutella" anyone?
Some new features which we have already seen in the Android N preview include, an improved notification panel with quick reply, multi-window support, more optimization on battery life, improvements
Project Chirp
This could be one of the very few product announcement at this years' I/O. Project Crisp is supposedly a codename for Google’s answer to Amazon Echo. To the uninitiated, Amazon Echo is a speaker which is powered by the company's Alexa voice engine. You can interact with the speaker through voice commands to play music, get information on weather, sports, traffic and also control other compatible smart devices in your house.
Android VR
Google is expected to launch, Android VR, a standalone VR headset for the massed which would not require any PC or smartphone to power it. It is expected to come with a built-in display and use cameras to track motion alongwith sensors.
Android Pay
We expect to see Google expanding its Android Pay service to more countries and formats. Just this week we heard that Android Pay is making its way to the UK.
Android One
Lately there hasn’t been any news on Google's Android One project. Google recently brought back Motorola CEO, Rick Osterloh to their fold as SVP of Hardware division which also includes Android One, so there may be a chance of the re-birth of the project under his direction.
In early May, Mike Hayes, Director of Business Development for Android and Chrome partnerships at Google, said “The Android One project is still going on”.
Android Auto
Google recently announced that they are bringing Android Auto to India and 17 other countries. We expect Google to announce an expansion in the space. Self-driving cars is something the company may hint at.
Android TV
Google has just got control of the AndroidTV.com domain, which suggests that the company may have some big announcements for us at the event. Xiaomi has also been teasing its Android TV box through social media for the last few days, and they may also launch a compatible game controller.
There's lot expected at Google I/O 2016 and we will be bringing you all the important announcements right here on PhoneBunch. Keep it tuned.
