Google Pixel Watch 5 launched in India starting at Rs. 42,999 with 3,000-nit Display, Gemini AI, Advanced Health Tracking

Google has launched its latest smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 5 in India alongside the Pixel 11 series. The smartwatch is available in 41mm and 45mm sizes and runs Wear OS 7.

Display and Design

The Pixel Watch 5 comes with a 3,000-nit domed Actua 360 display protected by custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Its 320ppi AMOLED LTPO panel supports the DCI-P3 colour gamut, a responsive 1–60Hz refresh rate, minimum brightness of 1 nit with AOD, and an always-on display.

Design and display features include:

• Two new watch faces along with generative watch faces
• Housing made from 100% recycled aluminium
• Second-generation HNBR Active Band with a soft-touch coating
• Fog, Olive, and Canyon colour options, with Canyon exclusive to the 41mm model
• Stephen Curry Special Edition in 45mm with a sweat-wicking performance loop band

Gemini and Proactive Assistance

The Pixel Watch 5 brings enhanced Gemini integration and proactive assistance features. At a Glance can provide contextual information directly on the watch face, including live boarding passes when arriving at an airport and the number of stops remaining during a commute.

Raise to Talk lets users access Gemini simply by raising their wrist. It can be used to start workouts, set timers, or retrieve dinner reservations from Gmail.

Core actions are processed on-device for lower latency and can function without an internet connection. Gemini Intelligence Proactive Suggestions can also identify relevant information, such as a family dinner listed in the calendar, and surface it directly on the watch. Users can review, confirm, and send suggestions with a double-pinch gesture.

The smartwatch is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated platform paired with a Cortex-M55 co-processor. Google claims it offers 50% more RAM, a 12% CPU performance improvement, and is 20% faster than the previous generation.

Health and Fitness Features

The Pixel Watch 5 supports dual-frequency GPS along with GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, and QZSS. Google claims the new system delivers twice the route-tracking accuracy of earlier generations in challenging environments. It uses 3D building models to calculate satellite signal paths and weather reference stations to compensate for local atmospheric conditions.

Fitness and sleep capabilities include:

• Strength Training with step-by-step guidance, set and rest-period tracking, and weight and rep logging, coming soon
• Google Health Coach with personalised strength workouts
• Custom strength routines through the Google Health app
• Recovery recommendations based on sleep and heart rate variability
• 15% more accurate sleep-stage detection
• Bedtime automations that can pause audiobooks
• A dedicated bedtime watch face
• Smart Wake that uses heart rate and movement data from the 30 minutes before an alarm

The Pixel Watch 5 also introduces Breathing Emergency Detection. The feature uses PPG, accelerometer, and barometer sensors along with on-device AI to detect severe and persistent drops in oxygen saturation that may occur due to drug toxicity accidents, severe pneumonia, or choking. If an emergency is detected and the wearer is unresponsive, the smartwatch can automatically contact emergency services and share the user's exact location. The feature will initially be available in Europe.

The three new monthly health trend summaries are powered by Health Foundation Models trained using billions of minutes of sensor data from opted-in users and validated against clinical measurements. The first detailed report becomes available after one month of use and tracks metabolic, respiratory, and cardiovascular changes. Google also plans to bring monthly summaries to its wider wearable ecosystem, including Google Fitbit Air.

Battery and Other Features

Battery capacities and rated usage vary depending on the watch size:

• 41mm: 332mAh battery, offering up to 30 hours with AOD and up to 48 hours in Battery Saver mode
• 45mm: 465mAh battery, offering up to 40 hours with AOD and up to 72 hours in Battery Saver mode

Both models can reach 50% charge in around 15 minutes. The 41mm model takes approximately 25 minutes to reach 80% and 45 minutes for a full charge, while the 45mm model takes around 30 minutes to reach 80% and 60 minutes to reach 100%.

The Pixel Watch 5 is compatible with most smartphones running Android 12.0 or later. A Google Account and the Google Pixel Watch app are required for setup and use.

Google says the smartwatch incorporates recycled plastic, cobalt, aluminium, steel, glass, tin, tungsten, gold, copper, and rare-earth elements. Its packaging is made using 100% plastic-free materials.
