Cobalt Blue and Fairphone’s Mining Initiatives
The Fairphone (Gen. 6+) is offered in Cobalt Blue, alongside Forest Green and Horizon Black. The Cobalt Blue colourway highlights Fairphone’s ongoing focus on responsible cobalt sourcing and improving mining conditions.
- Fair Cobalt Alliance: Fairphone co-founded the FCA to help improve working conditions in artisanal cobalt mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Fair Cobalt Credits: The company introduced Fair Cobalt Credits and says it pays a premium for the cobalt used in its smartphones based on these credits.
