Corning Gorilla Glass 4 arrives in a tougher avatar
Corning has just unveiled the sequel to its popular Gorilla Glass. The new, Gorilla Glass 4 is better at withstanding drops, so it won't shatter when your phone hits the ground. According to findings, the new glass protects your phone's display in 80% cases from a drop of less than 1m (3.3ft). Corning also says that Gorilla Glass 4 is twice as tough as its competition.
Gorilla Glass 4's 0.4 mm thick sheet is slightly tougher than a 0.7mm thick sheet of the previous gen version 3. Meaning, you get a thinner, lighter protective layer on your phone's display making for better touch response and even thinner designs.
First devices featuring Gorilla Glass 4 will start arriving early next year.
