Apple Watch Ultra 4 launched; India price starts at Rs. 1,09,900 with S11 Chip, enhanced sensors, Improved battery life
Apple has launched its latest rugged smartwatch lineup, the Apple Watch Ultra 4 in the Global Market, including India. The new model brings an upgraded health-sensing system, improved battery endurance, and machine learning-powered features enabled by the new S11 chip. It runs on watchOS 27 and is offered in Natural and Black titanium finishes.
Hardware and Health Sensor Upgrades
At the core of the Apple Watch Ultra 4 is a newly developed Health Sensing System that works alongside the S11 chip and combines enhanced optical and electrical sensors for more frequent health monitoring.
Continuous Heart Rate and Recovery HRV: The watch uses larger, more power-efficient green LEDs to passively measure heart rate every five seconds. Heart rate variability (HRV) sampling is now performed up to 24 times more frequently, with the data divided into Recovery HRV for tracking daily recovery and Overall HRV for broader cardiovascular insights.
Daily Readiness Score: Based on findings from the Apple Heart and Movement Study, the new Readiness feature analyzes recent activity, training load, sleep data, and vital signs to generate a daily score between 0 and 10. It also provides recommendations ranging from “Recover” to “Go For It.”
Daytime Vitals: Alongside the existing overnight vitals monitoring, the Ultra 4 now lets users track changes in key physiological measurements throughout the day.
Redesigned Pedometer: A new machine learning model improves distance estimation during indoor workouts and enhances everyday step tracking. A dedicated Steps complication also provides quicker access to step-count information.
Battery Performance and Tracking Modes
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 delivers longer endurance across everyday use and demanding workout scenarios.
| Mode | Battery Life | Key Functionality |
| Standard Everyday | Up to 50 hours | Full smartwatch and health sensor functionality |
| Low Power Mode | Up to 84 hours | Core tracking features with reduced power consumption |
| Extended Workout | Up to 25 hours | Continuous GPS and heart rate monitoring |
| Max Extended Workout | Up to 45 hours | Continuous GPS tracking at one-second intervals for endurance activities |
A 15-minute fast charge can provide up to 18 hours of typical usage.
Audio Intelligence and Privacy
The S11 chip and Apple Intelligence enable several new audio- and conversation-focused capabilities on the Apple Watch Ultra 4.
Sound Recognition: The watch can detect important ambient sounds, including sirens, alarms, and a crying baby, directly on the device to assist deaf and hard-of-hearing users.
Live Rewind: Double-pressing the Digital Crown displays a text snippet from the previous 15 seconds of speech. A chime and on-screen animation indicate when the feature is active.
Siri Recap: The Siri app can generate bullet-point summaries after conversations instead of presenting complete word-for-word transcripts.
Apple says privacy is maintained through processing on the hardware-isolated Secure Exclave integrated into the S11 chip. Audio data is deleted immediately after analysis, while raw recordings are not retained and speaker identities are not included. Saved summaries are protected using end-to-end encryption.
Software, Ecosystem, and Design
The updated iPhone Health app introduces an Insights section, a Longevity section with a “Health Age” assessment, and camera-assisted movement evaluations. In the U.S., users can also order laboratory panels covering 50 biomarkers through Quest Diagnostics for USD 119 directly from the app.
With watchOS 27, the Apple Watch Ultra 4 supports Siri AI with contextual awareness, a single-handed tap gesture for selecting Smart Stack widgets, expanded cycle tracking for perimenopause and menopause, and on-device Workout Buddy guidance.
The watch uses a 3D-printed titanium case made with 100 percent recycled titanium, while its battery incorporates 100 percent recycled cobalt. Apple is also offering refreshed Alpine, Trail, and translucent silicone Ocean bands. A premium Hermès edition adds the Grand H titanium band and the ocean-depth-inspired “Fathom and Wonder” watch face.
