Apple iPhone Fold new renders Surface Online revealing Creaseless display, book-style design

Apple’s first foldable iPhone, internally known as V68, is expected to debut in Fall 2026 and is rumored to adopt a book-style form factor similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold. A recent Front Page Tech (fpt.) video hosted by Jon Prosser delves into the device’s rumored design, specifications, and key details.

In the video, Prosser highlights possible hardware choices, major features, and Apple’s approach to overcoming long-standing foldable phone challenges.

iPhone Fold overview -

Foldable smartphones have been available for years in both clamshell and book-style designs. According to the report, Apple is likely to focus on a refined, premium experience with an emphasis on display quality and overall hardware polish, rather than simply following existing designs.

Design and near-creaseless display -

Apple is said to be opting for a book-style foldable instead of a flip-style design. The inner display is rumored to be 7.8 inches, paired with a 5.5-inch outer screen. Prosser claims Apple may reduce the visibility of the crease by using a pressure-distributing metal plate, liquid metal components in the hinge, and an in-cell touch panel to preserve touch responsiveness.

When folded, the device is expected to be around 9mm thick, slimming down to roughly 4.5mm when unfolded, making it notably thin for a dual-screen foldable.

Camera setup -

  • The iPhone Fold is rumored to include a four-camera system consisting of:
  • A front camera on the outer display
  • Two rear cameras
  • A camera embedded in the inner foldable screen

This configuration would enable photo and video capture in both folded and unfolded states.

Security features -

The video suggests that Face ID may be omitted, with Touch ID making a return via a power button–embedded fingerprint sensor, possibly positioned along the top edge. An August 2025 report by Mark Gurman also indicates that the iPhone Fold is likely to rely on an eSIM-only setup, eliminating a physical SIM tray.

Performance, modem, and battery -

The device is expected to feature Apple’s second-generation C2 modem, offering more efficient connectivity and improved power efficiency. Prosser added that Apple could use high-density battery cells, made possible by a slimmer display driver, to better support the power demands of a dual-display design.

An in-cell touch display is also mentioned, which could help minimize crease visibility while enhancing touch accuracy and responsiveness.

Colors, pricing, and production -

Early production is said to include black and white color options, with mass manufacturing expected to begin in early 2026. Pricing is rumored to fall between $2,000 and $2,500, placing the iPhone Fold above the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. The video also hints that Apple may introduce a new high-end “Ultra” tier with this model.

Launch timeline and outlook -

According to the video, Apple could unveil the iPhone Fold in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. If Apple succeeds in delivering a foldable iPhone with little to no visible crease, it could overcome one of the biggest drawbacks of current foldable devices and represent Apple’s first major step into the foldable smartphone segment.
