Apple HomeView smart home device launched; India Price at Rs. 39,900 with 7-inch Liquid Retina display, Siri AI
Apple has launched its new smart home device, Apple HomeView at its “Welcome Home” event. It features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and is available in tabletop and wall-mounted configurations; the device combines Siri AI, personalized user experiences, and integrated smart home controls within Apple's connected ecosystem.
Apple HomeView
Apple HomeView brings together a personal assistant, entertainment features, and smart home management in a shared household device. It supports individual profiles for family members while allowing guests to access shared content and household features.
Design and Display
The tabletop version features an aluminum construction, a domed speaker base, and a stainless steel hinge that allows users to adjust the viewing angle. The wall-mounted variant is designed for spaces such as entryways and hallways.
Both models offer the following display features:
- True Tone: Automatically adjusts the display according to ambient lighting conditions.
- Adaptive brightness: Offers brightness levels ranging from 500 nits to as low as 0.3 nits.
- Adaptive interface: Presents simplified information when viewed from a distance and displays additional details when users move closer.
The tabletop model is available in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray, with a matching power cable. The wall-mounted version comes in space gray and silver and supports three specially designed Schneider Electric mounts. Users can choose between self-installation and professional installation.
Personalized Experience and Siri AI
Apple HomeView supports up to six users, with each person receiving a personalized Home Screen featuring their preferred apps and widgets. Shared photos and music remain accessible to other household members and guests.
Siri AI, powered by Apple Intelligence and Apple silicon, enables natural conversations, general knowledge queries, music discovery, and onscreen awareness. When paired with a compatible iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, Siri can use personal context from apps such as Calendar and Messages. It can also perform actions across applications, including creating playlists in Apple Music.
Users can adjust Siri's expressiveness and speaking speed through a compatible paired device. Conversations can continue in the Siri app, while iCloud synchronizes conversation history across supported Apple devices. Users without an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone or iPad can still access Siri's general knowledge, conversational capabilities, and music discovery features.
Customizable Faces and Photos
HomeView offers multiple display experiences to personalize the device:
- Photos: Displays personal pictures and shared albums with a Portrait-style depth effect that keeps the subject in focus while blurring the foreground and background.
- Flow: Responds to a user's presence and movement.
- Snoopy: Presents animated scenes influenced by the time, weather, sporting events, and holidays.
Audio and Entertainment
The tabletop model incorporates two custom full-range drivers within the display, a down-firing woofer, and two force-cancelling passive radiators in the speaker base. Apple silicon and real-time sensors dynamically adjust loudness and bass response at different volume levels. The system also supports Spatial Audio. The wall-mounted version features two custom drivers with computational audio specifically tuned for wall-mounted installation.
Supported entertainment services include Apple Music, with animated album artwork and lyrics, Apple Podcasts, Apple News, Apple TV, and compatible third-party audio and video applications.
HomeView also supports multiroom audio playback with other HomeView devices, HomePod, HomePod mini, and AirPlay-compatible speakers. The Handoff feature allows users to transfer music from a compatible iPhone to HomeView by bringing the phone close to the display.
Communication and Everyday Assistance
Apple HomeView supports FaceTime with Center Stage, which keeps participants appropriately framed as they move during video calls. Users can read and respond to Messages using voice commands or the onscreen keyboard. The Intercom feature enables voice messages to be sent to individual rooms or broadcast throughout the home.
Intercom messages can be delivered to HomeView and HomePod devices, as well as compatible iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch devices.
Siri can also convert online recipes into step-by-step cooking instructions, manage kitchen timers, and help users keep track of ingredients. The device displays Live Activities, including songs, timers, and incoming Intercom messages.
With Find My, users can locate people who share their location, misplaced iPhones, AirPods charging cases, and personal belongings equipped with an AirTag.
Smart Home Controls and Monitoring
HomeView allows users to manage compatible smart home devices, including cameras, thermostats, lights, doors, and blinds, through touchscreen controls or Siri voice commands.
The Home Modular face provides convenient access to favourite smart home accessories, while Home Camera can display up to nine live camera feeds simultaneously.
With a compatible iCloud+ subscription and supported cameras, HomeView offers additional monitoring capabilities, including:
- Recognition of people, familiar faces, pets, packages, and vehicles.
- Video descriptions for HomeKit Secure Video footage.
- Detection of smoke and carbon monoxide alarm sounds, with notifications delivered to an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.
The device works with compatible Apple Home and Matter accessories. Apple's Home Collection also includes smart home cameras, thermostats, and locks developed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.
Privacy and Security
Apple HomeView incorporates the A18 chip and Secure Enclave, which provide protected environments for processing camera and microphone data separately from the rest of the system. According to Apple, data handled within these environments cannot be accessed by HomeView software, applications, users, or Apple.
Personal information from Messages and Calendar is displayed only when HomeView recognizes an enrolled user through facial recognition and the associated iPhone or iPad is present and has been unlocked recently.
Siri requests are processed directly on the device or through Apple's Private Cloud Compute infrastructure. Apple states that information processed through Private Cloud Compute is neither stored nor accessible to Apple or other parties.
Environmental Initiatives
Apple says HomeView meets its energy-efficiency and safe-chemistry requirements while incorporating recycled materials throughout its design.
- Aluminum: The tabletop speaker base and wall-mounted enclosure use 100% recycled aluminum.
- Circuit boards: Apple-designed printed circuit boards feature 100% recycled gold plating and tin solder.
- Magnets: All magnets use 100% recycled rare earth elements.
- Packaging: The packaging is entirely fiber-based and designed to be recyclable.
These measures contribute to Apple's broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its entire environmental footprint by 2030.
