iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus official: Here are all the details
Phil Schiller today announced the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, with glass backs and aerospace aluminium frames. Both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are water and dust resistant, and have similar displays as before. The smaller iPhone 8 gets a 4.7-inch HD Retina display while the Plus gets a 5.5-inch full-HD display. They now use Apple True Tone technology to adjust the display based on content, color and temperature.
The speakers on both have been upgraded to stereo, through the main earpiece and the other channel through the bottom. Both the iPhone 8 devices run on the Apple A11 "Bionic" chipset, it is a hexa-core chipset with two faster cores for performance oriented tasks and four for general tasks.
The iPhone 8 Plus gets new dual 12MP rear cameras with f/1.8 lens and a f/2.8 telephoto lens. The iPhone 8 uses the single 12MP camera with f/1.8 aperture lens. There is a new portrait mode which can detect changes in light in the image and focus on specific areas based on the lighting arrangement you want. Apple has also added Qi wireless charging to both the new iPhones.
The iPhone 8 will start at $699 for the 64GB storage variant and the iPhone 8 Plus will come in at $799 for the 64GB storage variant. Apple today also announced the Apple Watch Series 3 with WatchOS 4, Cellular connectivity.
