Amazon Fire TV Stick HD (2nd Gen) launched in India at Rs. 4,999 with Wi-Fi 6, Xbox Cloud Gaming Support

Amazon has launched its latest streaming device in India, the Fire TV Stick HD (2nd Gen), following its global debut last month. The new streaming stick brings several hardware and software enhancements aimed at delivering faster performance, smoother navigation, improved portability, and support for cloud gaming on Amazon’s HD streaming platform.

Performance and Connectivity -

The new Fire TV Stick HD offers noticeable performance upgrades over the previous generation.

  • Faster Performance: According to Amazon, the device is more than 30% faster on average than its predecessor, enabling quicker startup times and faster app loading.
  • Streaming Quality: It supports 1080p Full HD playback with HDR10+ compatibility for enhanced picture quality.
  • Connectivity: The device features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 support, helping ensure stable streaming performance even on slower network connections.

More Compact Design -

Amazon has redesigned the Fire TV Stick HD with a slimmer and more travel-friendly form factor.

  • Slimmer Build: The new model is around 30% thinner than other Fire TV devices currently available.
  • USB-Powered Operation: It can be powered directly through a TV’s USB port, removing the need for a separate power adapter and allowing it to stay hidden neatly behind the television.

Updated Interface and Content Features -

The streaming stick comes with a refreshed Fire TV interface focused on easier content discovery and smart home integration.

  • Simplified Navigation: The updated UI includes dedicated sections for movies, TV shows, live TV, and free content.
  • Smart Home Controls: Users can manage Alexa-compatible smart home devices such as lights, fans, and air conditioners directly from the Fire TV interface.
  • Streaming Apps: It supports access to thousands of apps and streaming services including Prime Video, Netflix, JioHotstar, YouTube, and Zee5, although subscriptions may be required for some services.
  • Alexa Voice Remote and Mobile App: The device includes the Alexa Voice Remote for voice-based controls. It also works with Amazon’s updated Fire TV mobile app, introduced earlier in 2026, enabling users to manage watchlists and cast content from their smartphones.

Xbox Cloud Gaming Support -

Amazon has added cloud gaming support to its HD streaming lineup for the first time with the Fire TV Stick HD.

Users can install the Xbox app and stream cloud-enabled games directly to their TVs without needing a dedicated gaming console. To use this feature, users must have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription and a compatible Bluetooth gaming controller.

Pricing and Availability -

The Amazon Fire TV Stick HD is priced at Rs. 4,999 in India. It is currently available through Amazon.in, Blinkit, Flipkart, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto, with offline retail availability expected soon.
